14:15 às 15:00 – LECTURE – METHODOLOGIES AND APPROACHES, with Stephan Hughes

Teaching English to speakers of other languages has most certainly gone beyond the Communicative Approach and its hybrid forms. The need to teach IN English and not just about English has disrupted the what, the how of teaching. The ubiquitous nature of learning (thanks to the constantly consistent enhancement of digital tools and intelligences) means redefining teacher and learner roles, learning spaces, learning aims, assessment systems and educational outcomes. The landscape that lies before us favors teachers who can be X-Men, not Avengers. This talk will glide over three major educational umbrella concepts in ELT and pave the way for a 90-minute workshop to explore them more practically.
